Final project: Proposal
Final Proposals : A, B
Proposal A
For my final project I wanted to try bringing to life a former collaborative project with a fellow student at The Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design in the University of Bergen, Norway. We made a video that shows how we wanted the interaction to turn out in the end, but we are working on a way to make the interaction actually take place.
The intended interaction could possibly be made by
- microphone sensors (three speakers to locate x,y of subject in room)
- kinect + processing
A mockup could be made by using
- Touchpad screen hooked up to an arduino
- Plexi plinth projection from below + kinect + processing = simulating a touch screen for your hands
Proposal B
- Making something simple, but make it great.
For my plan B I was encouraged by colleagues to give myself restrictions, and to keep to those. I gave myself the following ones:
- You have to use a motor
- You have to use something in your studio
- Don´t think too much about why, even though it is an excellent question
When you ask why, you can easily get lost in all the details or even the bigger picture, trying to figure out the next answer to the question "why". In this project I didn´t want to get lost in thinking, and tried to keep it simple, but find a concept that still was intriguing to work with. Gravity and the way mass moves in motion fascinate me, and in addition to that, I have noticed that a lot of my work from this semester is hanging, trying to contradict gravity in some way. I also have a fascination for industrial machines making thread or rope, and wanted to work with twinning of thread.
